Structured cabling is the low-voltage wiring that runs from each room back to one central location: network cable, fiber where it's the better fit, plus coax, speaker wire and video runs. Wi-Fi access points, security cameras, Savant and Control4 systems, whole-home audio and TVs all depend on it. When it's planned and labeled well, every later upgrade is easier.
Homi Home Automation is a California C-10 licensed electrical contractor, so the same team runs the low-voltage cable and the electrical for the rack, the TV locations and the equipment closet. We pre-wire new builds, remodels and ADUs, and we fish new runs into finished homes through attics and crawlspaces. Call (818) 245-5201 or book a free estimate.
What's Included
Network & Fiber Home Runs
Every run goes from the outlet straight back to the rack, with no daisy-chains or hidden splices. We choose the cable for each run based on what it feeds and where it goes, with fiber where it's the better fit.
More on UniFi networksNetwork & AV Racks
A wall-mount or floor rack in a closet, garage or equipment room, with patch panels, cable management, a dedicated circuit and room to grow. The modem, UniFi gateway, PoE switches, recorder and AV gear all live in one place.
More on AV and theaterPatch Panels & Labeling
Each cable is terminated on a patch panel and labeled at both ends, so anyone can tell which port feeds the office, the patio camera or the family-room TV.
More on networkingPre-Wire for New Construction, Remodels & ADUs
Low-voltage rough-in at the same time as the electrical rough-in: network, access points, cameras, speakers, TV locations, keypads, shades and doorbell. We add spare conduit (smurf tube) to key spots so future cable can be pulled without opening walls.
More on pre-wiringRetrofit Wiring in Existing Homes
New runs fished through attics, crawlspaces, closets and existing chases to reach ceiling access points, cameras and TVs. If a small wall patch is needed, we tell you where before we start.
More on smart homeGuest Houses, Pool Areas & Gates
Outdoor-rated cable or fiber in conduit to the guest house, pool house, garage or gate, so outdoor access points, cameras and DoorBird intercoms have a wired connection instead of a weak wireless link.
More on outdoor Wi-Fi and camerasCleanup of Existing Wiring
We trace and test what's already in the walls, remove dead cable, re-terminate on a patch panel, and turn a tangled closet into a labeled, organized rack.
More on installationsTesting, PoE Devices & Small Offices
Every run is tested before we close up. Wired UniFi access points, cameras and doorbells get power and data over one PoE cable. We also cable small offices and studios: desk drops, a rack and wired access points.
More on UniFi access pointsHow We Do It
The same steps whether it's a new build or a finished home.
- Walkthrough and planWe walk the house (or review the plans), mark every drop, access point, camera, speaker and TV location, and choose the rack location.
- Electrical and low-voltage togetherOne licensed team handles both, so the rack gets its own circuit and TV and equipment locations get power and cable in the same visit.
- Rough-in or retrofitOn new work we pull cable after framing and before insulation and drywall. In existing homes we route through attics, crawlspaces and closets.
- Terminate and labelCables are terminated on patch panels and wall jacks, labeled at both ends and dressed neatly in the rack.
- Test every runEach cable is tested end to end before walls close or equipment goes in, so problems are fixed while they're easy to reach.
- Hand-offYou get a port list showing what each patch-panel port feeds, which helps anyone who works on the system later.
What the Cabling Connects
- Ubiquiti UniFiGateways, PoE switches, ceiling and outdoor access points, and UniFi Protect cameras and recorders.
- Savant & Control4Authorized Savant dealer and Control4 installer. We also program Crestron. These systems depend on a solid wired network.
- Lutron RadioRA 3, HomeWorks & KetraKeypad and shade wiring, and the network connection the lighting processor needs.
- DoorBirdVideo intercoms at the front door or gate, powered and connected over one PoE cable.
- Whole-home audio & theaterSpeaker wire to in-ceiling and in-wall speakers, plus video runs (HDMI-over-IP or coax) to TVs and projectors.
- eeroFor smaller homes and simpler jobs, an eero mesh system with wired backhaul where we can run cable.

FAQs
Which type of cable will you use?
It depends on what each run feeds, how far it goes and what you may add later. We'll recommend the cable for each run during the walkthrough and explain why, so the wiring fits both what you have now and what you're likely to add.
Can you add network cable to a finished home without opening walls?
Usually, yes. We route through attics, crawlspaces, closets and existing chases to reach ceilings and walls. Some locations need a small access hole that gets patched. We'll walk the house and tell you which spots are easy and which aren't before any work starts.
When should low-voltage wiring go in during new construction or a remodel?
At rough-in: after framing and before insulation and drywall, at the same time as the electrical rough-in. Because we handle both, the electrical and low-voltage are planned together and the walls only open once. We also add spare conduit so future cable can be pulled later.
Can you clean up a messy network closet?
Yes. We trace and test the existing cables, remove dead runs, terminate everything on a labeled patch panel, mount the equipment in a rack, and give you a port list. Often the existing cable can stay, and only the termination and organization change.
Can you run network cable to a guest house, pool house or gate?
Yes. We look at the distance and the route and choose copper or fiber to suit it. Outdoor runs go in conduit with outdoor-rated cable, and the far end can feed an access point, cameras or a DoorBird intercom.
